The Teachings of Jesus

The church and even the writers of the New Testament were not quite sure what Jesus was saying.  Jesus spoke in parables, and also spoke about things in a context they were not aware of.  If we reread the teachings of Jesus, and read the unedited teachings now found in the Urantia book and combine all that with our new knowledge of our alien creators, we can make more sense of things.

The first concept I think need clarification is the concept of being saved.  The writers of the New Testament and the church have created a concept of some spiritual status or condition we achieve by saying some magic words and believing Jesus would actually save you. If you read the teachings of Jesus, he never said that.  The church changed one word and changed the whole concept.  Jesus said if you believe AS me then you will be saved.  The church changed it to believe IN me.  Then they took it to mean that all we have to do is say some magic words and believe in Jesus and we will be going to heaven.  They wrongly created the concept of original sin.  A sovereign God does not need a blood sacrifice to forgive his children of sin.  Our creators and God abhors blood sacrifices.  It is a primitive and animalistic concept.  The Urantia book says it best.

(1447.1) 131:3.4 “Cheerfulness and gladness are the rewards of deeds well done and to the glory of the Immortal. No man can rob you of the liberty of your own mind. When the faith of your religion has emancipated your heart, when the mind, like a mountain, is settled and immovable, then shall the peace of the soul flow tranquilly like a river of waters. Those who are sure of salvation are forever free from lust, envy, hatred, and the delusions of wealth. While faith is the energy of the better life, nevertheless, must you work out your own salvation with perseverance. If you would be certain of your final salvation, then make sure that you sincerely seek to fulfill all righteousness. Cultivate the assurance of the heart which springs from within and thus come to enjoy the ecstasy of eternal salvation.

We need to do more than just say some magic words; we need to live as Jesus taught us to.  His message was simple, believe that you are children of God, and love your neighbor as yourself.  Really simple, not the hate filled guilt tripping, hell damnation message the church wants to control you with.  The church still teaches the fear doctrine….fear God, fear sin, fear the unknown, and fear anyone who isn’t like you.  That is nonsense; Jesus said “Where true love is there is NO fear”.  If we live in love and do everything in love, then we have no fear.

If you live in love, and believe in God, even a little, then you will have eternal life.  You will get the chance to go on to the next life and continue your training to be in service to God in the vast universe of material and spiritual beings.  You will live forever in service to God and you fellow beings.

Sounds simple, and yes it can get a little more complicated when you start thinking how to do everything in love.  If you study the Urantia book, it can help you figure out how to live in love and to strive for perfection.

40:5.19   As to the chances of mortal survival, let it be made forever clear: All souls of every possible phase of mortal existence will survive provided they manifest willingness to co-operate with their indwelling Adjusters and exhibit a desire to find God and to attain divine perfection, even though these desires be but the first faint flickers of the primitive comprehension of that “true light which lights every man who comes into the world.”

155:6.17   Now, mistake not, my Father will ever respond to the faintest flicker of faith. He takes note of the physical and superstitious emotions of the primitive man. And with those honest but fearful souls whose faith is so weak that it amounts to little more than an intellectual conformity to a passive attitude of assent to religions of authority, the Father is ever alert to honor and foster even all such feeble attempts to reach out for him. But you who have been called out of darkness into the light are expected to believe with a whole heart; your faith shall dominate the combined attitudes of body, mind, and spirit.
